Please call 911 and report any crime-related incidents you may have, even if the crime has already occurred and you think the police can’t do much about it.

The police department allocates its officers and patrols based on the number and types of calls received. The more calls we make from the Dells District, the greater our police presence will be.

Did you know that most home burglaries don’t happen at night? Most of them occur during the day, when people are away.

Make your home unattractive to thieves. Close and lock ALL doors and windows.
HERE’S WHEN TO CALL 911:

1. Someone knocks on your door and tells you a strange story: for example, they are looking for a lost dog, or a friend, or a relative.

2. A car is driving slowly through the neighborhood, looking closely at houses or driving through the neighborhood repeatedly. Paper license plates are a red flag! Be sure to write down the license plate number.

3. You see unusual cars/bikes/people in alleys. Make a habit of looking down alleys when you pass them.

4. If you notice a car parked nearby that you have never seen before, watch it for a few minutes to see what happens. It’s a good idea to write down the license plate number. Burglars usually work in pairs. One person stays in the car---on the street or in an alley---while another goes into the house.
