The City of Dallas permits only TWO garage sales each year per property. A garage sale CAN NOT take place in an apartment complex.
You must have a permit for your Garage Sale.
You can obtain your permit at any branch of the Dallas Public Library, as well as these locations:
7901 Goforth Rd. (Restaurant/Bar Inspections), Monday thru Friday, 8:00 - 4:30
1818 N. Westmoreland Rd. (Dallas Animal Services)
Monday, 8:00 - 5:00
Tuesday thru Saturday 8:00 - 6:00
AND Sunday, 12:00 - 4:30
or 3112 Canton St. (Code Compliance Administration),
Monday - Friday, 8:00- 5:00

The sale must take place only on the premises of the owner or lessee of the property. The owner of the property or the lessee MUST BE THE LEGAL OWNER OF THE ITEMS THAT ARE BEING SOLD. Outside vendors are not permitted.
The sale must be held inside a garage, or building, or on the patio. YARD SALES ARE NOT PERMITTED.
A sale may last no longer than 3 consecutive days.
A person cannot sell merchandise that has been bought to resell in a garage sale.
ONLY ONE sign advertising the sale can be placedon the property where the sale is being held. Signs may not be placed on utility poles, lamp posts, trees, sidewalks, the right-of-way, or on the median of streets.
SIGNS PLACED ON PROPERTY OTHER THAN WHERE THE SALE IS BEING HELD MAY BE REMOVED AND/OR TICKETED.
